Flexible NDIS respite that gives carers a genuine break while your loved one enjoys safe, engaging support.

A support worker comes to your home and takes over care, so your loved one can stay in familiar surroundings and keep their usual routine. Sessions can run for a few hours, a full day or on a regular weekly schedule.

Respite doesn't have to mean staying in. We can plan outings to parks, beaches, cafés, shopping centres, libraries and local events, based on what your loved one enjoys most.

Help with showering, dressing, grooming and toileting is provided with dignity and respect. Every support worker follows the personal care preferences you share with us during planning.

Support workers can prepare meals, help with eating and follow any dietary requirements. Medication prompts and reminders are given in line with your loved one's documented plan.

For longer breaks, such as a holiday, a hospital stay or a weekend away, we can arrange overnight respite with supervised care around the clock.

After each session, you get a short update covering what your loved one did, how they were feeling and anything you should know. You'll never be left wondering how the day went.
Caring for a family member with disability is full of love, but it can also be relentless. Without regular breaks, carers can become exhausted, isolated and run down, and that affects the whole household. Respite gives you time to rest, work, attend appointments, spend time with other family members or simply do something for yourself.
Kaya Disability Support is a locally operated provider based in Paralowie. We deliver respite across Adelaide’s northern suburbs and surrounding areas. Our team started Kaya after experiencing disability within our own families, so we understand how much it means to hand over care to someone you can truly trust.
We treat respite as more than supervision. Each session is planned around your loved one’s interests, goals and routines. It might be a trip to the beach, a cooking session at home, practising daily living skills or catching up with friends in the community. They get a day that’s about them, and you get peace of mind.
Every support worker is screened and trained in disability support. Where possible, we match your loved one with the same worker each time, so trust and familiarity grow naturally. We also work closely with families to follow any behaviour support, health or communication plans already in place.
Getting respite set up with Kaya is simple, and we keep things easy to manage once support begins. Here’s what to expect.
Call us or send an enquiry to tell us about your loved one and the kind of break you need. We'll have a relaxed chat about their needs, your routines and how often you'd like respite.
We meet with you and your loved one to learn about their interests, personal care needs, communication style and any health or behaviour considerations. Everything is written into a clear respite plan so there are no surprises.
We match your loved one with a support worker whose skills and personality suit them. Where possible, we arrange an introduction before the first session so everyone feels comfortable.
We check in after sessions and review the plan regularly as needs, goals or schedules change. If anything isn't working, we fix it with you directly.
For NDIS participants, respite is usually funded through the Core Supports budget of your plan, most commonly under Assistance with Daily Life or Assistance with Social, Economic and Community Participation. Overnight stays are generally funded as Short Term Accommodation.
The cost of each session depends on several factors: the time of day, whether it falls on a weekday, weekend or public holiday, the level of support needed, and whether support is one-to-one or shared. Our rates follow the current NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits, so you’ll never be charged more than the NDIS allows.
Every family’s situation is different, so we’ll go through your plan with you before support starts and explain exactly what your respite will cost. There are no hidden fees and no surprises on your statements.

Our team knows the caring journey first-hand, which shapes how we listen to families and support every person.

We aim to keep the same familiar faces with your loved one, so trust builds and routines stay steady.

Regular sessions, one-off breaks, school holidays or overnight stays, all arranged around your family's life.

You'll have a direct contact at Kaya and regular updates, so you always know how your loved one is going.
